## Questions about this world

### What is Nekanlex?

Nekanlex is a hand-made survival world of 4,097 × 4,097 blocks, made with WorldPainter, World Machine, Gaea, Axiom and WorldEdit, built for Minecraft Java 1.19. You download the world folder and play it like any other save, in singleplayer or on your own server.

### How big is Nekanlex?

4,097 × 4,097 blocks, so about 17 million blocks of surface. Walking from one edge to the other takes roughly 16 minutes at normal walking speed. The terrain runs from Y -64 to Y 320.

Outside that area the world keeps generating normal vanilla Minecraft chunks, so you never hit a wall, you just leave the built part behind.

### Which Minecraft version does Nekanlex need?

Nekanlex is built for Minecraft Java **1.19**. Newer releases normally open it fine. Opening it in an *older* release is not supported: blocks and structures added after that version cannot load, and the world can be damaged by the attempt.

Bedrock players need a converted copy. See [the Bedrock notes in the FAQ](https://mcmeddon.com/faq#install-bedrock).

### Which biomes are in Nekanlex?

25 in total. The land is mostly Plains (40.7%), Snowy Slopes (19.9%), Giant Tree Taiga Hills (7.8%) and Stony Peaks (6.9%), counted as shares of the land rather than of the whole map.

Water covers 23.5% of the map, and land 76.3%.

The [full breakdown](https://mcmeddon.com/worlds/20220827-nekanlex#biome-composition) is further up this page, with every biome and its share.

### Which structures are in Nekanlex?

10 of the 19 structure types the scan checks are confirmed present: surface (1/7), underground (5/6), ocean (3/4), portal structures (1/1) and settlements (0/1).

Not confirmed: Desert pyramids (not checked), Jungle pyramids (not checked), Pillager outposts (not checked), Swamp huts (not checked), Trail ruins (not checked) and Woodland mansions (not checked). "Searched, not found" means the scan looked and came up empty; "not checked" means it has not been looked for yet.

[The structure list](https://mcmeddon.com/worlds/20220827-nekanlex#structure-coverage) above names every one of them.

### Is Nekanlex ready to play in survival?

Yes. A scan of the world file confirms loot tables, structures, animals and ores, so the survival loop runs from the first night: chests hold the game's real loot tables, mobs spawn as they do anywhere else, and you can mine, farm and build without adding anything. It plays in vanilla Minecraft, with no mods, no datapacks and no creative mode.

The [world contents report](https://mcmeddon.com/worlds/20220827-nekanlex#world-contents) at the bottom of this page holds the item-by-item detail.

### What is new in Nekanlex?

Every world is built on the one before it, and Nekanlex brought 13 logged changes into the line: new terrain, new assets and fixes to the generators that made it.

From its list:

- added deep dark forest / corrupted forest
- improved rivers
- sharpened mountains

The [full list](https://mcmeddon.com/worlds/20220827-nekanlex#world-changelog) is on this page. These are the world's own additions, not patches released after it, so an older download is not missing them.

### Can I look at Nekanlex before downloading it?

Yes. [Open it in the 3D explorer](https://mcmeddon.com/worlds/20220827-nekanlex/explore) and fly the real terrain in your browser, with the biomes, the caves and the marked structures. Nothing to install.
