*6K, 1.21.5+, 🌳 Lush Canyons and Plateaus · Download, survival friendly, Java, Overworld World*

A 36km² custom Minecraft Survival Map, created by McMeddon.
A great cross shaped continent, with a giant terrace and mesa terrain at the core, shaped by canyons and cliffs from west to east. Explore the picturesque mountains in the north, the 2 lone volcano's. Or venture through the large plains and forests across the lands. From arctic regions to lush valleys, all ready to be explored.

With this world, i made further progressions adding new terrains, renewed biome placement systems, world improvements, and especially the implementation of many new additional subbiomes for birch, spruce, oak, plains, and meadows.

Shares are measured across the built map. Past its edge the world keeps generating normal vanilla Minecraft chunks, so biomes missing from this list can still be found out there.

- Normal Caves: 95%
- Lush Caves: 3%
- Magma Caves: 1% (inferred from surrounding blocks)
- Dripstone Caves: 0.6%
- Deep Dark: 0.6%
- Ice Caves: 0.2% (inferred from surrounding blocks)

Inferred types have no biome of their own in Minecraft. They are named from the blocks around the cave rather than read from the save.

## Structures

15 of 19 confirmed present. A pinned marker outranks the scan; anything not confirmed is what the scan alone recorded.

## Questions about this world

### What is Xarkoles?

Xarkoles is a hand-made survival world of 6,144 × 6,144 blocks, made with WorldPainter, World Machine, Gaea, Axiom and WorldEdit, built for Minecraft Java 1.21.5. You download the world folder and play it like any other save, in singleplayer or on your own server.

### How big is Xarkoles?

6,144 × 6,144 blocks, so about 38 million blocks of surface. Walking from one edge to the other takes roughly 24 minutes at normal walking speed. The terrain runs from Y -64 to Y 320.

Outside that area the world keeps generating normal vanilla Minecraft chunks, so you never hit a wall, you just leave the built part behind.

### Which Minecraft version does Xarkoles need?

Xarkoles is built for Minecraft Java **1.21.5**. Newer releases normally open it fine. Opening it in an *older* release is not supported: blocks and structures added after that version cannot load, and the world can be damaged by the attempt.

Bedrock players need a converted copy. See [the Bedrock notes in the FAQ](https://mcmeddon.com/faq#install-bedrock).

### Which biomes are in Xarkoles?

38 in total. The land is mostly Plains (28.0%), Beach (9.1%), Stony Shore (8.5%) and Forest (6.8%), counted as shares of the land rather than of the whole map.

Water covers 41.3% of the map, and land 58.2%.

By volume this world's caves are Normal Caves (94.8%), Lush Caves (2.5%) and Magma Caves (1.3%). The [cave breakdown](https://mcmeddon.com/worlds/20260325-xarkoles#caves) has the rest.

The [full breakdown](https://mcmeddon.com/worlds/20260325-xarkoles#biome-composition) is further up this page, with every biome and its share.

### Which structures are in Xarkoles?

15 of the 19 structure types the scan checks are confirmed present: surface (5/7), underground (5/6), ocean (3/4), portal structures (1/1) and settlements (1/1).

Not confirmed: Igloos (not checked), Woodland mansions (not checked), Ancient cities (missing) and Buried treasure (searched, not found). "Searched, not found" means the scan looked and came up empty; "not checked" means it has not been looked for yet.

[The structure list](https://mcmeddon.com/worlds/20260325-xarkoles#structure-coverage) above names every one of them.

### Is Xarkoles ready to play in survival?

Yes. A scan of the world file confirms loot tables, structures, animals and ores, so the survival loop runs from the first night: chests hold the game's real loot tables, mobs spawn as they do anywhere else, and you can mine, farm and build without adding anything. It plays in vanilla Minecraft, with no mods, no datapacks and no creative mode.

### What is new in Xarkoles?

Every world is built on the one before it, and Xarkoles brought 30 logged changes into the line: new terrain, new assets and fixes to the generators that made it.

From its list:

- created new mixed mesa-canyon terrain
- changed river banks floodplains max 25°
- changed river banks max 41°

The [full list](https://mcmeddon.com/worlds/20260325-xarkoles#world-changelog) is on this page. These are the world's own additions, not patches released after it, so an older download is not missing them.

### Can I look at Xarkoles before downloading it?

Yes. [Open it in the 3D explorer](https://mcmeddon.com/worlds/20260325-xarkoles/explore) and fly the real terrain in your browser, with the biomes, the caves and the marked structures. Nothing to install.
