Cernution
Overview
6K, 1.21.5+ & 26.3, The Sancuary plateaus + Burried Treasure Structures + full featured vanilla structure additions
A 36km² custom Minecraft Survival Map, created by McMeddon. Plateaus surrounded by giant dune fields, which are surrounded by a giant mountain ring. The sanctuary plateaus in center, giant mountain chains around. Plains and lush forest in the north east, with mangroves & jungles further south. Badlands and red deserts in the south, and a giant tundra like sub polar steppe below the arctic region in the north. This world did quite a few leaps, changes to layouts, tree placements, and a technical development that allowed me to inject vanilla data into the chunks after export. To let your local minecraft version take over and generate vanilla structures with features again. Which was sadly not possible in versions after 1.16 with worldpainter. Additionally a technical addition was made to autofix stale or false nbt container data, to randomize loot and prevent stale vaults.

Questions about Cernution
- What is Cernution?
-
Cernution is a hand-made survival world of 6,144 × 6,144 blocks, made with WorldPainter, World Machine, Gaea, Axiom and WorldEdit, built for Minecraft Java 26.3. You download the world folder and play it like any other save, in singleplayer or on your own server.
- How big is Cernution?
-
6,144 × 6,144 blocks, so about 38 million blocks of surface. Walking from one edge to the other takes roughly 24 minutes at normal walking speed. The terrain runs from Y -64 to Y 320.
Outside that area the world keeps generating normal vanilla Minecraft chunks, so you never hit a wall, you just leave the built part behind.
- Which Minecraft version does Cernution need?
-
Cernution is made for Minecraft Java 26.3 and opens in 1.21.5 and later. Between the two, anything added after the release you load it in is removed or replaced (new biomes load as plains), so 26.3 or newer shows the world as built. Releases older than 1.21.5 cannot open it.
Bedrock players need a converted copy. See the Bedrock notes in the FAQ.
- Which biomes are in Cernution?
-
37 in total. The land is mostly Plains (23.6%), Beach (9.6%), Desert (9.3%) and Stony Peaks (8.1%), counted as shares of the land rather than of the whole map.
Water covers 43.6% of the map, and land 55.4%.
The full breakdown is further up this page, with every biome and its share.
- Which structures are in Cernution?
-
17 of the 20 structure types the scan checks are confirmed present: surface (6/8), underground (6/6), ocean (3/4), portal structures (1/1) and settlements (1/1).
Not confirmed: Abandoned camps (not checked), Woodland mansions (searched, not found) and Ocean monuments (searched, not found). "Searched, not found" means the scan looked and came up empty; "not checked" means it has not been looked for yet.
The structure list above names every one of them.
- Is Cernution ready to play in survival?
-
Yes. A scan of the world file confirms loot tables, structures, animals and ores, so the survival loop runs from the first night: chests hold the game's real loot tables, mobs spawn as they do anywhere else, and you can mine, farm and build without adding anything. It plays in vanilla Minecraft, with no mods, no datapacks and no creative mode.
The world contents report at the bottom of this page holds the item-by-item detail.
- Where do I download Cernution?
-
From the download link on Google Drive, also on the button at the top of this page.
Also available: the PlanetMinecraft project page, which carries the release notes and the known issues for this particular build.
- What is new in Cernution?
-
Every world is built on the one before it, and Cernution brought 15 logged changes into the line: new terrain, new assets and fixes to the generators that made it.
From its list:
- Updated swamp huts with a minor fix.
- Added sandstone beneath sand dunes for parity.
The full list is on this page. These are the world's own additions, not patches released after it, so an older download is not missing them.
- Can I look at Cernution before downloading it?
-
Yes. Open it in the 3D explorer and fly the real terrain in your browser, with the biomes, the caves and the marked structures. Nothing to install.
How do I install Cernution on Java Edition?
- Unpack the archive you downloaded from Google Drive.
- Open your saves folder. On Windows press
Win+Rand enter%appdata%\.minecraft\saves. On macOS it is~/Library/Application Support/minecraft/saves, on Linux~/.minecraft/saves. - Move the unpacked folder in. It must be the folder that contains
level.dat, not a folder wrapping it. - Restart Minecraft on 1.21.5 or newer and pick the world in singleplayer.
Can I play it on Bedrock, or on a server?
Bedrock needs a converted .mcworld copy, and converted worlds carry their own
quirks around spawn, chests and villagers.
For a server, drop the world folder in as the server's world and start it.
What may I do with it?
The worlds are released under CC BY-NC 4.0. The Rights panel on this page lists what that allows and how to credit it.
